Agreement on visa-free travels of citizens of the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine
Belarusian-Ukrainian consultations about migration and readmission issues held at the level of heads of the consular services of the two foreign ministries took place in Kyiv.
The delegations were lead by Andrei Giro, Head of the Central Consular Department of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, and Sergei Pogoreltsev, Director of the Consular Service Department of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. The discussions focused on cooperation in the area of migration and readmission, in particular, expansion of the legal base of the bilateral relations.
The sides also approved the final Belarusian-Ukrainian intergovernmental draft agreement on visa-free travels of citizens of the two countries. According to the document, the time Ukraine citizens are allowed to stay in Belarus without registration will be increased from three days to thirty. The same will be done for the duration of stay of Belarusians in Ukraine.
During the consular consultations the sides reached an agreement to take measures to accelerate the completion of intrastate procedures required for signing the agreement.
Continuing the bilateral dialogue in the area of readmission, the sides agreed that Belarus and Ukraine should sign a readmission agreement and a relevant executive protocol. The sides also exchanged the necessary materials concerning major parameters and contents of these bilateral documents.
